QuantumFlo Expands Aftermarket Support

Meet Robbie Barrere, Aftermarket & Warranty Coordinator

Wilo & QuantumFlo Are Excited to Expand Aftermarket Support, Reinforcing a Commitment to Service After the Sale

QuantumFlo, the leader in variable speed boosters and booster operating technology, offers an industry-leading 5 year warranty. Exceptional product engineering, design, and craftsmanship make it possible to stand behind the products for longer than any other competitor. What happens when something goes wrong with a QuantumFlo unit that’s not a warranty issue? The Aftermarket Team exists to support customers and troubleshoot and solve issues.

Robbie Barrere joined the Wilo Aftermarket team in September 2022 and was assigned specifically to the QuantumFlo products. Robbie’s background is in controls and building automation. During his 18-year tenure at his previous employer, he held several roles including Electrical Engineer, Programmer, Technical Support and Field Services Tech. He enjoys a good troubleshooting challenge, which is one the key factors that made him an ideal fit for this position. His daily focus is on ways to address and solve customer concerns and help improve their experiences.

We asked Robbie a couple questions we were really curious about – here are his responses:

  • What are the most common issues, not warranty related, that you see? “The most common issues I have seen are issues related to water quality and suction pressure. While we cannot control suction pressure, we do try to aid in resolving the overall outcome. At times, we get a high system because of fluctuating suction. When the VFDs trip it is typically on a high system pressure or DC Bus over voltage. This is caused by either too high of deceleration or a line voltage spike. I do my best to diagnose based on the code and information provided. I have found that calling for help from your desk as opposed to onsite is less adequate and it creates a larger challenge. I can best assist when someone is standing directly in front of the unit.”
  • What’s the most unique troubleshooting challenge you’ve experienced while at QuantumFlo? “Explaining high system cut-off due to water hammer has been the most challenging. High system pressure can be related to an oversized system or not as many valves opened as expected. Water hammer can create a high system because of fast acting valves like washing machines. This type of issue requires the installation of a slow acting valve to prevent the water hammer. Sort of like driving at 90 MPH and then slamming the breaks is what water hammer can be related to. When water stops fast, it’s like the water hit a wall as opposed to continuously flowing.”
  • What attracted you to working for QuantumFlo & Wilo? “It is a familiar field and the management is very understanding as well as progressive. I have spent many years troubleshooting, being out in the field, as well as engineering these types of products. I enjoy solving and aiding in resolving issues. It has been a really good fit for me, as I am familiar with it and I like it. I tinker with all sorts of things in my time away from work so I view it almost like a hobby.”

Thanks for Going with the ‘Flo, Robbie! We’re excited to have you assisting our customers and Reps.
